PVT’s LOW INCOME TELEPHONE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LITAP)

Peñasco Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. is a quality telecommunications service provider who provides basic and enhanced services at reasonable rates within its service territory.

Low-income individuals may be eligible for discounts from their basic local service charge through state specified telephone assistance plans such as Lifeline.

Since 1985, Lifeline has helped millions of Americans connect to what’s important – family, work, doctors, and emergency services – by making telephone service more affordable for qualified families.

Lifeline is a government program that provides a monthly discount on telephone service to qualified households. Individuals are eligible if they are participating in one of the following programs:

  • Federal Public Housing Assistance or Section 8
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Medicaid
  • National School Lunch (free lunch program)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly Food Stamps)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

You may qualify for Lifeline if your total household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines; or if you, your dependent or your household receives government assistance. Peñasco Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. provides access to operator and directory assistance and your choice of long distance companies.

Basic services are offered to all consumers in the Peñasco Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc service territories at the rates, terms and conditions specified in the Company’s tariffs lists. Other charges, surcharges and taxes may apply. PVT follows FCC supported guidelines and is subject to state regulations.
