The PVT Directors’ Memorial Scholarship honors a previous director’s exchange by awarding a scholarship in their name. In 2025, we honor the Loco Hills Exchange, and the directors being honored are Tom Evans, Virgil Standard, and Jose Acosta. The scholarship is based on community service and priority is given to students from the honored directors’ exchange; however, the scholarship is not limited to students from that exchange. This award is a one-time $500 scholarship for the freshman year only. The recipients will be selected from the current PVT scholarship applications.
The PVT Education Scholarship is a $6,400 undergraduate scholarship ($800/semester) available to applicants who are active members of Peñasco Valley Telephone Cooperative as of January 1 of the current year and have had at least two months of landline phone service or internet service in any of PVT’s cooperative exchanges.
In 2025, PVT will be working with the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM) to assist with the intake of applications, awarding funds and following up with returning students. This is an excellent opportunity for students to apply online! The online application will give student(s) the ability to apply for more than 50 other scholarships held at the CFSNM. Potential PVT scholarship awardees just need to click yes to the PVT questions and complete the application online.
High school seniors, current college students and returning-adult students are encouraged to apply by accessing the online application on the CFSNM website located at
https://www.communityfoundationofsouthernewmexico.org/apply-for-a-scholarship/ Applications are due back to PVT no later than March 1, 2025, and winners will be announced during the PVT Annual Meeting.
Submission of the PVT application is for consideration of both the Peñasco Valley Telephone Education Scholarship and the PVT Directors’ Memorial Scholarship. Eligible applicants may receive one or both scholarships. Eligibility does not guarantee a scholarship award. If you have any questions regarding eligibility for these these scholarships, please contact the PVT Scholarship Administrator, 800-505-4844 or 575-748-1241, [email protected]. If you need any assistance with the online application, contact the CFSNM at 575-521-4794 or [email protected].
PVT also co-sponsors a scholarship with the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS), a nonprofit telecom industry organization based in Arlington, VA. Scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 school year are submitted through the frs.org website and must be completed by February 14, 2025.
