This year there were 47 scholarships awarded out of 1,500 applications nationwide. The Foundation for Rural Services said Hailey Ashe was, “head and shoulders above the rest!”

Hailey was a senior at Artesia High School. She plans to attend Texas Tech and pursue a degree in Agriculture Business. Hailey is the daughter of Darryl and Sabine Ashe, Hope subscribers. Hailey was also awarded the Peñasco Valley Telephone Education Foundation Scholarship.

Kellan Bennett was a senior at Artesia High School. She plans to attend Clarendon College and pursue a degree in Agriculture Business. Kellan is the daughter of Michael and Emily Bennett, Hope subscribers.

Gennesis Gutierrrez

Gennesis Gutierrez was a senior at Hondo Valley Public Schools. She plans to attend New Mexico State University and pursue a degree in Psychology Journalism. Gennesis is the daughter of Raphael and Lisa Silva, Hondo subscribers.

Sabina Judah

Sabina Judah was a senior at Cloudcroft High School. She plans to attend New Mexico State University and pursue a degree in Nursing. Sabina is the daughter of Jason Judah and Sharlene Rogers, Mayhill subscribers.

Preston McKee

Preston McKee was a senior at Artesia High School. He plans to attend Sul Ross State University and pursue a degree in Natural Resource Management. Preston is the son of Michael and Kristy McKee, Hope subscribers.

Makayla Moberly

Makayla Moberly was a senior at Cloudcroft High School. She plans to attend New Mexico State University and pursue a degree in Conservation Ecology. Makayla is the daughter of Robert and Tammy Moberly, Mayhill subscribers.

Karie Peters is a returning adult student and is a Junior at Amarillo College, working towards a degree as a LVN. She is a Mayhill subscriber.

Ariadna Rivera

Ariadna Rivera was a senior at Artesia High School. She plans to attend University of New Mexico and pursue degree in Pre-Medicine. Ariadna is the daughter of Gerardo Rivera and Yazmin Fierro, Cottonwood subscribers.

The 2017 PVT Directors’ Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of past PVT Directors of the Hope Exchange, which includes C.R. Barley, George M. Casabonne, Lloyd Treat, Robert M. Barley and Ernest Ray Harwell, Jr.
