Peñasco Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (PVT) held its 74th Annual Meeting of the Membership on April 26, 2025. The event, hosted at the Artesia Public Schools Administration Building and broadcast live to Cloudcroft High School and Hondo Schools, brought together members from across the region to celebrate connectivity and shared goals.
The meeting saw a great turnout, easily meeting quorum. Multiple locations ensured that members from various parts of the community could participate and stay informed.
Adding a touch of fun and excitement, PVT’s playful mascot Splice made a special appearance on the basketball court in Hondo, delighting members with playful antics.
President Dwight Menefee kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome and introduced the current Directors, their spouses, and special guests, including Mary Elizabeth Casabonne, John Metts, former PVT CEO, and several state and community leaders.
James D. Meyers, PVT CEO, shared significant updates, emphasizing the cooperative’s mission to bring fiber-to-the-home to rural communities with an investment of approximately $70 million. This initiative, supported by federal and state grants, low-interest loans, and self-funding, aims to transform connectivity in rural areas, enabling distance learning, telehealth, precision agriculture, entertainment, and keeping families connected.
Despite regulatory uncertainties, PVT remains dedicated to delivering world-class broadband services and expanding fiber infrastructure to unserved and underserved areas.
Mr. Meyers also highlighted the cooperative’s commitment to supporting local events, providing free public Wi-Fi access, and investing in employee growth and development.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all members, employees, students, and guests who made this year’s annual meeting a success. Your support helps drive our mission to enhance connectivity and support our communities.
Thank you for being a part of the PVT family. It was wonderful to connect and grow together!
